The past several years, I've been self-hosting all my sites. It was fun, it was educational... but I am in the process of backing up all my sites and giving it up.
Three times in the past 45 days, my hosting account has been hit with malicious code. There is obviously a 'backdoor' I am unable to find... so no matter how quickly I find the code, or how long it takes me to manually remove it from each infected file.. it can re-appear with no work on 'their' part.
I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do, but I do know I will be canceling my hosting account.
My thinking is that a simple blog, that is part of a bigger community, may be fun, and less work.. and I can focus on the fun part of just posting.
I didn't make any New Years Resolutions this year - I normally don't. Regardless, this year promises to bring about much change in my life (and my family), and maybe this is just one more step forward to the simplifying my body is craving. It feels like a good thing.
